Christian de Haas is a furniture designer and maker who focuses on handmade furniture in solid wood. Furniture with a lively character, where technique, form and function find a balance. The joy of design and craftsmanship is present in every detail.

Each piece of furniture is characterised by a quest for quality, perfection and logic; logic with a twist. No nails or screws, but solid joints made with today’s techniques. The aim is to create pieces of furniture that can withstand the test of time, becoming lifelong companions to their owners.

Personal

Trained and working as an architect I discovered my passion for design, detail and craftsmanship.

By putting my training as a furniture maker into practice, I fulfill my desire to actually create a design by hand. For me, making a piece of furniture is an inquiry into technique, form, and function to find the perfect balance. Working by hand is a way of reconnecting with the tactile side of design on a smaller scale. Because of its tactility and lively character, solid wood is my favorite material.
